Our most popular lid support.

Designed to be a finger saver, an anti-slam lid support counter balances the weight of the lid with an internal spring. We have sold hundreds of these and you too can be happy knowing your project is safer for fingers when you install one on your project.

Because of it's special geometry, mounting position is affected greatly by varying material thickness and hinge position. I suggest you take a couple pieces of wood and a hinge and duplicate the cross section of your project similar to the one I made for this photo. Then you can close the support and mount it on this cross section to determine the exact mounting hole positions before drilling holes in your finished project.

To determine the number of supports required, multiply the weight of the lid in pounds by half of the lid's width (front to back) and divide by 50. The answer you get is the number of supports you need. Round up to the next whole number.

The measurements shown are based on using 3/4" thick material and a piano hinge.

We appreciate the opportunity to supply you with quality woodworking supplies at great prices.
