So you're building a chest... and you know very well that it's going to get sat on. What do you do for hinges?

You want them strong enough to take the dynamic weight of a person but you didn't want to put great huge hinges along the back. Or, maybe you wanted to put a cushion on the top of the chest to make it a nicer place to rest.

Either way, when you open the lid, it's going to be so close to the wall, it will not stay open or it will hit the wall because of the cushion on the top.

Problem solved... these hinges mount to the inside of the chest allowing the lid to sit on the sides of the chest all around.

Now there's no load on the hinges when someone is sitting there. Secondly, these hinges are designed to pull the lid forward as they open allowing room for that cushion to clear the wall. Lastly, these hinges are sprung to the open position. That means they will hold the lid open while you are searching inside the chest.
