I'd like to introduce to you an interesting wooden art form. It's called Root Craft after its origin, the root of the fir tree. Each piece is as unique as the tree root it was made from and for this reason, these pictures are only a representation of what each piece will look like.
Each piece's size will fall within the size noted but will vary from piece to piece. Once you've got one in your hands, you'll be amazed and intrigued with its details.
We know wood dries with internal stresses. Root Craft is no different. Acceptable cracking is normal and unique to the piece as it becomes accustomed to its environment. It does not affect the beauty and decorative function. With a little care, you can reduce the effects of internal stresses by conditioning your Root Craft with a nontoxic oil finish similar to those used on wooden salad bowls and cutting boards. For small spaces, these shadow baskets and bowls can be placed up against a wall on a hall table, counter or shelf where a full round one will not fit.

In our picture, we've used two Shadow Bowls to make book ends.
