Threaded inserts are a great way to have bolt type threads in wood.
On the inside, standard 8-32 threads allow you to thread in any matching fastener. The outside is threaded a non-standard thread suitable for holding in the wood.
The 8-32 threaded inserts are not threaded through... they only allow
the bolt to thread from one way. There is a very small bevel on the
end that goes into the wood first.
Since the outside thread varies by manufacturer, we don't attempt to describe it here and recommend that once you receive your order, you measure them and drill test holes in a scrap piece of the same wood. This way you can determine exactly what hole size is best for your material.
For easy installation, try the matching T-Wrench.
