A healthy and efficient workshop is no longer something to shrug off. It’s absolutely necessary if you hope to have a long and healthy retirement life. Fine airborne dust is far more dangerous than the tools we work with. Unlike a tool that can cause immediate pain, ingested dust sneaks up on us so that by the time we realize the irreversible pain, it’s too late.
Take the time. Connect your shop with hose, piping and fittings like this Y fitting. Y-fittings are the preferred method for connecting hose and tubing together when building a system because Y-fittings have the least amount of restriction to air flow. Compare it to an intersection on the road. It’s much easier to come up to speed on a merge lane than it is at a traffic intersection. For this reason, we don’t offer similar T-fittings. They just don’t work well.
Can be easily connected to the following fittings:
13005 Dust Cap
13041 Blast Gate Tapered M/F
13042 Blast Gate F/Threaded
13066 Blast Gate F/F
13093 Splicer 4” to 4”
13410 Adapter to hose
and 4” Hose
This Y with 5" female and two 4" male branches usually comes
with several dust collectors. It attaches directly to the fan
housing.
You might decide to connect a 5" metal tube directly to
your dust collector and run 5" branches around your shop.
This
fitting, when mounted on the ends of your 5" lines, is perfect to drop
the diameter down to two 4" branches exactly where you need them...
on the end of the line.
I have my own shop set up this way and it's
really handy. I pressed two of the female/male blast gates on the
branches and I have the most solid connections you can imagine. I like the gates to push on farther than most people so I used a heat gun to warm up the gates just prior to pushing them onto the 4" branches. They stay put really well.
